Ingenico and Crypto.com have announced a significant partnership aimed at expanding the global use of cryptocurrency in retail payments.
This collaboration introduces a crypto payment solution designed for millions of Ingenico merchants, integrating cryptocurrency payments into their systems without any currency risk.
Through Ingenico’s AXIUM Android terminals, merchants can now accept cryptocurrency payments and receive funds directly in their local currencies such as EUR, GBP, AUD or USD.
Ingenico’s new merchant wallet plays a central role in this solution, providing merchants with a simplified interface for handling crypto payments.
This “plug-and-play” integration not only enables merchants to incorporate crypto alongside their existing systems but also aims to normalise the use of cryptocurrency in real-world retail settings.
Crypto.com Pay, part of this collaboration, brings added benefits to both consumers and merchants.
Consumers earn rewards on transactions, while Ingenico provides merchants with extra services directly accessible through mobile and tablet devices.
The platform allows merchants to manage payments and other services seamlessly, enhancing convenience and driving crypto adoption in the retail space.
The global rollout is set to begin in Q1 2025, with live pilots involving select partners in regions including the US, Canada, Europe, the UK, Asia and Australia.
Patrick Blanc, Ingenico’s CTO, emphasised the ground-breaking nature of this partnership, noting that it redefines the payments landscape by integrating crypto into mainstream commerce.
Meanwhile, Eric Anziani, President & COO of Crypto.com, shared that this partnership is part of Crypto.com’s mission to simplify real-world crypto usage and boost adoption as a versatile payment method.
