Fans of Liverpool Football Club in England will be able to gain entry to home games at Anfield Stadium by scanning a digital NFC season pass or match ticket stored on their smartphone at stadium turnstiles.
The English Premier League side has rolled out digital-only NFC ticketing for all home matches during the 2021-22 football season. It is currently letting season ticket holders test the service by purchasing and downloading a digital pass from the club website and checking it reads correctly at a stadium turnstile.
The new system also enables season ticket holders and club members to transfer a digital ticket for a home Premier League match or cup tie to a member of a family and friends group added to their supporter ID account should they not be able to attend a particular game.
“All season ticket holders will be required to download an NFC digital pass onto their smartphone by Monday 26 July in order to gain access into Anfield during the new season,” the club says.
“The pass will only need to be downloaded once for 2021-22 and will replace existing season ticket access cards and paper tickets for all home games, including cup ties.
“Those season ticket holders who do not have access to a smart mobile phone compatible with NFC technology can request a stadium access card with their photograph on.”
