With access to PayPal’s global network of 400 million active accounts, including 92 million Venmo users, businesses can seamlessly integrate financial tools tailored to their unique needs.

“Our goal in developing PayPal Open is to create one unified commerce platform that supports the evolving needs of today’s merchants,” says Frank Keller, EVP, General Manager of Large Enterprise & Merchant Platforms at PayPal.

“Whether small businesses or global enterprises, PayPal Open enables merchants to streamline their operations and fuel growth.”

Key Benefits of PayPal Open

  1. Powering Payments – Businesses can accept payments globally with PayPal, Venmo, Fastlane and Pay Later options. The platform supports 200+ global markets and 140+ currencies, offering customers flexibility in payment methods.
  2. Driving Growth – Merchants can leverage AI-driven commerce personalisation, flexible financing options and access to PayPal’s extensive two-sided network to reach new customers and enhance retention.
  3. Optimising Operations – AI-powered analytics provide insights into sales performance, fraud prevention, and customer behaviour, allowing merchants to make data-driven decisions to improve efficiency and profitability.

Keller further stated, “PayPal Open will not only drive innovation in the near term but will also serve as a foundation for future solutions contributed by PayPal and other ecosystem partners.”

PayPal Open will launch in the US first, with expansions planned for the UK and Germany later in 2025.

Additional international markets will follow in 2026.

PayPal and Verifone Forge a Strategic Omnichannel Partnership

In addition to the launch of PayPal Open, PayPal and Verifone have announced an expanded partnership aimed at delivering a comprehensive omnichannel payment solution to enterprise merchants.

This collaboration merges Verifone’s in-person payment hardware with PayPal’s enterprise payment processing capabilities (Braintree), enabling businesses to provide a seamless, scalable checkout experience.

“This partnership marks a major shift in how PayPal is approaching the omnichannel enterprise opportunity,” notes Alex Chriss, President and CEO of PayPal.

“By collaborating with Verifone, we are unlocking new paths to mass adoption of in-person payments while scaling our presence globally.”

Enhancing Enterprise Merchant Solutions

Through this partnership, PayPal and Verifone will support businesses across industries including retail, grocery, quick-service restaurants, ticketing, entertainment and consumer electronics.

The combined offering includes:
